1. Introduction
Aimo is an AI memory assistant browser extension designed to help users save and manage conversations with AI assistants. We value your privacy and this policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
2. Information We Collect
Aimo extension collects the following types of information:
- User Settings: Including Aimo server address and interface preferences, stored in browser local storage.
- Authentication Information: Login tokens and session identifiers used to connect to your configured Aimo server.
- Notes Data: Notes you create in the extension, stored in browser local storage.
- Web Page Content: The extension only reads page title and content when you actively click "Send to Aimo". It does not automatically collect browsing history or scrape websites in the background.
- AI Conversation Content: When you actively use the sync feature on supported AI platforms, the extension reads conversation content and sends it to your configured server.
3. Content Script Scope
The extension only injects content scripts on the following AI platform websites to provide conversation sync functionality:
ChatGPT (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com) · Claude (claude.ai) · Kimi (kimi.moonshot.cn, kimi.com, kimi.ai) · DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com) · Gemini (gemini.google.com, aistudio.google.com, ai.google.dev)
The extension does not automatically run or collect data on other websites.
4. How We Use Information
Information collected is used solely for:
- Providing core extension features (notes management, AI conversation sync)
- Syncing data to your self-configured Aimo server
5. Data Storage and Transmission
- Local Storage: User settings, authentication tokens, and notes are stored in browser local storage (chrome.storage.local) and are not automatically uploaded to any server.
- Server Transmission: Data is only sent to the server address you configure in extension settings. Unless you actively configure it, data will not be sent to any third-party servers. We do not operate any central servers to collect user data.
6. Data Retention
- Local data is retained until you clear it or uninstall the extension.
- Server-side data retention depends on your self-hosted Aimo server configuration.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal data to third parties. The current version does not share data with any third parties. Your data is only transmitted in the following cases:
- Sent to your self-configured Aimo server address
- When required by law
8. Data Security
We implement the following technical measures to protect your data:
- Communications with remote servers use HTTPS/TLS encryption (except for local development environments localhost/127.0.0.1).
- Sensitive data such as authentication tokens are stored in browser local storage and do not pass through third-party servers.
- The extension does not automatically transmit data without user action.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Clear locally stored data at any time in extension settings
- Uninstall the extension to delete all local data
- Choose not to use cloud sync and only use local notes
- Log out at any time to clear authentication information
10. How to Delete Your Data
- Local Data: Go to extension settings and click "Clear Data", or uninstall the extension.
- Server Data: Log in to your Aimo server and delete data through its interface.
11. Third-Party Websites
The extension interacts with third-party AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Kimi, DeepSeek, Gemini) to provide conversation sync functionality. These platforms have their own privacy policies, and we recommend reviewing their privacy terms. The extension does not send additional data to these platforms; it only reads your existing conversation content.
12. Children's Privacy
This extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Updated policies will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. If we add new data collection types or purposes in the future, we will update this policy and provide necessary notifications and choices within the extension.
